National MOVE Day 2009
National MOVE Day, 24th September 2009
We want to celebrate the achievements of the most severely disabled children on the MOVE Programme, be it walking, sitting, looking up or moving. Our aim is to raise awareness so other children can see how their lives can be transformed.
MOVE Europe is a charity that uses the unique MOVE Programme. We combine the knowledge of therapists, teachers and family to teach severely disabled children and young people independent movement skills - sitting, standing and walking. They are basic movements that others might take for granted, but can be key to freedom of choice, improved health and a world of possibilities. We are the only organisation to offer this kind of training, advice and support.
We would like people to get involved particularly fundraisers, volunteers, corporate teams, schools that use the MOVE Programme, schools that could benefit from the MOVE Programme, any parent who would like to introduce their child to the MOVE Programme, health care professionals and anyone interested in supporting the achievements of severely disabled children and young people.
We actively encourage people to come up with simple ways to celebrate the National MOVE Day, as the main focus is on celebrating the achievements of children on the MOVE Programme and raising awareness so that all severely disabled children can fulfil some of their dreams be it walking, dancing at the school disco, eating a meal with the family and sitting up. We do welcome the involvement of as many people as possible as we want to make it truly national.
