Through their eyes - sensory development for children with visual impairments in the early years setting

Set within the framework of the early developmental goals, the day offers a practical workshop to consider the implications of visual impairment on the child’s learning, with an opportunity, to explore ways in which the child’s sensory development can be supported. Approaches, ideas, strategies and ways in which “planning” can be adapted appropriately will be offered, with early years resources available to look at and experiment with. A final session on mobility in the early years will cover the importance of early intervention in developing movement, orientation and mobility from the earliest stages to school age and how developing good movement skills are essential foundations for effective learning in all other aspects.
