Sexuality education for children with multi-sensory impairments (MSI)
Sexuality education resources are generally designed for children/young adults who have access to information through their distance senses. It is a challenge for educators and parents to be pro-active in supporting children/young people with complex needs and little or no sight to learn about their bodies, emotions, sexuality and relationships with others. As a result, sexuality education with children/young people with multi-sensory impairment may sometimes be considered to be too complicated and may not be prioritised in education programmes. This course will encourage participants to consider their own attitudes to this important subject and to highlight the importance of recognising the sexual needs of these young people within the context of the school and home.
