This event will consider ways of implementing the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to improve the quality of lives for people with learning disabilities. It will also introduce the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard and how these can be effectively implemented within your organisation for people who have learning disabilities. The day gives a more ‘in-depth’ perspective of how the Mental Capacity Act impacts upon your practice as a worker, in addition to considering how your organisation measures up in terms of its practice around implementing the Act. This event will give you the opportunity to reflect upon on your personal and organisational practice, and in addition explore practical strategies to improve the support that you offer in implementing the Act within your own workplace.
