Implementing the MCA for people with ASD

This event will reflect on the history that led to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and explore in more depth what it means to have mental capacity and the implications of that for people with autistic spectrum disorder in order to be able to make decisions, and how staff can help them. In particular there will be a focus on the uneven cognitive profile in autism and the particular issues around choice making. The day will include case studies and time to look at participants own issues that can be raised during the day.
