Activities for communication for people with profound learning disabilities
Often supporters find it hard to understand communication that does
not involve speech or to know where to start to engage individuals
with PMLD in activities and events. Particularly when these
individuals have difficulties, not only in understanding, but also in
seeing, hearing and moving about. By the end of the day participants
should be able to:
• Communicate more effectively with individuals with PMLD
• Use a range of activities as contexts for communicating, e.g.
stories, social activities, sensory experiences, art and music
• Have fun with the individuals they work with
