Why does he/she need an advocate? Understanding independant advocacy

This event gives perspective on the history of advocacy showing why it is important to people with a learning disability. It will give learners the opportunity to reflect on the role of an advocate and to understand what are the possibilities and challenges. The day will identify ways in which current legislation and the forthcoming national advocacy qualification promote the importance of supporting people to have a voice of their own to influence the support they receive.
