Training: Supporting People with SLD who have been sexually abused

This course is an opportunity to consider the impact of sexual abuse on those with severe learning disabilities, and their support needs in the aftermath of abuse. This course will examine the importance of emotional support for people with severe learning disabilities who do not use verbal communication. The day will explore a range of therapeutic techniques available, reflect on effective ways of assessing someone’s needs and consider ways of ensuring informed consent and evaluating practice.
